- Wonderful stay for a big city escape! Foreigners friendly, everything is clear!
Cons -
- The hotel provides internet, but the way up, there was no service
- -Traditional Breakfast is not very foreigners friendly. I wish Booking.com shows western style breakfast selection.-An English explaination of meals (how to eat, ingredients, etc)
- The transfer shuttle situation. Turned out that our shuttle was cancelled, and we had to figure out with another bus from other hotel location to give us a ride.

The transfer shuttle situation. Turned out that our shuttle was cancelled, and we had to figure out with another bus from other hotel location to give us a ride.
We enjoyed the half board meals and the onsen. The reception was nice and even picked up my other group of friends when I asked them to from the bus stop where the hotel has a shuttle bus service.
The free drinks at the lounge had an option for matcha drink but it only came out with water-downed milk. The coffee was fine though. Needs more sign for guests to take off their clothing in the onsens. I saw someone wearing their underwear and onsens are supposed to be done without any clothing. This is of no fault to the hotel but bigger signs might be needed.
I really liked the way the staff treated us and how clean and traditional the hotel was. It was a nice immersive experience, and it was a very welcoming stay. The shuttle service that the Hotel provided was great, and we were right near a bus stop, which made transport convenient. Although, because of how late of a bus stop it was on the route, we couldn't get a bus ride back to the train station after checkout that could fit our group size and luggage, so we were forced to take an Uber.
We loved our stay, the Japanese style room and the kaiseki dinner. Some people say facilities are old but everything is of good quality, working well and it’s part of the charm of the place. Staff was very kind and helpful both in the restaurant and reception. When we left, staff came outside to greet the group, that was very nice. The onsen was wonderful!
Not much to do in terms of sport, if you don’t do golf. I would really advise the hotel to set up a yoga and a zen room and hopefully open access to the bigger garden to all guests not only those who book a golf class. Our daughter ordered a kids western menu instead of the Japanese one, but we had to pay extra for it although she no longer received the Japanese meal included in the booking. We appreciated very much that this was accepted, however it would have seemed normal not to charge us extra since she did not eat two meals.
Good Japanese breakfast.Clean rooms. Great staff Great Onsen
No washing machine
My God, the tranquillity and serenity were incredible. It’s rare to find somewhere this peaceful. The hot bath, especially the open-air one, was absolutely beautiful: relaxing, comfortable and welcoming. Our spacious room made for great photos in traditional Japanese clothes. The night felt surreal, gazing at the stars, and waking up to a colourful sunrise was unforgettable. Staff were friendly and attentive, showing us around and helping with transfers to the nearest bus stop and then to Odawara Station for our trip to Kyoto. Facilities were clean, and the free coffee area was a lovely bonus. We were lucky to stay on a weekday when it was quieter, making the experience even more relaxing. If we ever come back to Hakone, we will definitely be choosing this hotel.
The only point to keep in mind is the hotel’s somewhat challenging location; renting a car or booking a taxi would have made a big difference. It would also help if the hotel provided clearer information about their transfer options beforehand, so guests know they can book these services in advance. After travelling from Tokyo and spending more than three hours on public transport, we unfortunately weren’t in the best state to fully enjoy the hotel’s Japanese dinner and breakfast. That was more about our timing than the hotel itself.
Huge property surrounded by nature
to long walk to the bus station ( 30 minutes) But the hotel supply the transportation to the bus station
The staff was super friendly
Disappointing Stay – No Air Conditioning and OverpricedI had high expectations for Prince Hotel Hakone, but unfortunately our stay was very disappointing. Despite booking a room with air conditioning, we arrived to find that the AC did not work at all. When we reported this to the reception, we were simply told to open the window because it was “cool outside” — not an acceptable solution for a hotel of this price range. The room was uncomfortably warm at night, and it was difficult to get proper rest. We had booked for two nights, but the lack of basic comfort made it a frustrating experience. It honestly felt like the air conditioning had been broken for some time and no effort was made to fix it.To make matters worse, both the accommodation and the food were overpriced for what was offered.Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel and would not return. It did not live up to the price or the promises.
Beautiful facilities and buildings. Really enjoyed the whole experience especially being able to walk around in the Japanese robes. Staff at the front desk were exceptional and were very responsive to all our requests.
Perhaps the air quality, odors could be improved.Guessing that the hot springs and older building add to the slightly musty scent but nothing unbearable.
Excellent dinner and breakfast, the onsen was so peaceful and well kept, surroundings were tranquil and well located for activities in the area
We should have stayed longer!
Very stlylish In the middle of nature
Furniture a little bit outdated
We love our time at the hotel. The staffs were so lovely. We love the yummy ice cream at the beautiful coffee area. There will be buses that bring you to the closest bus stop. If you get the Hakone pass, it is super convenience to go around.
We only wish that we would have less grilled fish in our meals. We always try to finish them so the food are not wasted, but maybe less grilled fish will be good :)
Room was beautiful, had a nice view of the mountains. Dinner and breakfast service was amazing, food was very good.
Onsen shower room was clean but felt a little old/run down.
The hotel was absolutely beautiful with stunning architecture, excellent rooms and amazing food. We stayed in a Japanese style room which could accommodate 4 of us and the it was really spacious with super comfy futons. Breakfast and dinner were provided kaiseki style and the quality of the food was exceptional. The general age range of the other guests in the hotel was 50 and up so the hotel was really peaceful and quiet. The hot spring was amazing and if you're a golfer, they have an amazing golfing range.
The only issue with the hotel was that there were very few staff that spoke English so depending on who was at the counter, it was a bit difficult to communicate. Another thing to note is that taxi service is hard to come by and on a few occasions the hotel was unable to arrange a taxi for us as all cars were booked. This is especially problematic after 5pm when the public transport stops running. It would be best to rent a car when staying at this hotel since public transport stops running pretty early.
Staff were warm, friendly, efficient, and responsive. Members of our group spoke Japanese, but most of the staff spoke excellent English. The rooms were spacious. The indoor/outdoor onsen was lovely. The shuttle from bus stop & shuttle to train station were both prompt & much appreciated. The grounds were pretty and the building decor was quite nice.
The rooms smelled bad. We thought it might be related to the hot springs (which can have a sulfurous odor), but it was strong & we never got used to it. I've stayed in onsen resorts before & never experienced this.I was also a little disappointed in the meals. They were tasty but not particularly memorable. I've had better in less expensive places.
Staff are all very nice, food are nice, but some facilities a bit outdated.
some fresh up of the facilities: TV, bath room
Beautiful rooms, picture perfect view from huge glass wall
Requirement to fully undress to enjoy hot springs, no food options in dinner and breakfast for vegetarians
Unique experience living the japanese way. Super delicious japanese cuisine served.
Room not suitable for elderly and with disability
